These earrings are inspired by the Ateshgah temple, also called “the fire temple of Baku”, outside of the city.

It was a pilgrimage site for Zoroastrians, and a philosophical centre. But also Hindus came to this temple.

Fire is one of the four holy elements for zoroastrians, and it represents God’s light and wisdom. The other elements are air, water and earth. Fire in the temples represents the goodness and purity everybody should strive towards.

Zoroastrians believe in a battle between good and evil, good winning over evil through good words, good thoughts, good deeds.

The fire temple outside the city gives a good contrast to the modern city of Baku. A place to breathe and calm down.
